Glassing was born for fun in Ibiza during summer 2010, from an idea of two young Italian guys – Alessandro Forte and Stefano Ottone. The two lifelong friends land on the island provided only with their initiative, creativity and the typical recklessness of their age. Overwhelmed by Ibiza’s beauty, music and hippie style they quickly decide to stay there and open a store selling vintage glasses - their great passion. They soon start producing thousands of multi-colored sunglasses, with brilliant idea to sell them through vending machines inside of nightclubs. The success was incredible - that summer, on the island solely, Glassing sold more than 20,000 pairs, crowding all the beaches and nightclubs.
The creativity and the mood of the brand did not go unnoticed. Glassing’s communication and branding is always original and unexpected, which reinforces the essence of the brand. Many celebrities and fashion icons across the world have been spotted wearing Glassing: Kate Moss, Justin Bieber, Elton John, Lewis Hamilton, Adam Sandler, Chris Brown, the Kardashians, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rihanna & many more.
The brand is currently distributed in more than 1500 selected optical stores and world luxury boutiques, as well as in high-end department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Galeries LaFayette. Glassing also has an outlet and a store in the form of a real yacht - completely customized to the brand’s image and fully functional as a retail unit making it the first floating optical store ever.
